The V&A is the family of Art, Design and Performance Museum where everyone is invited to enjoy the power of creativity. It is the world’s largest museum of applied arts, decorative arts and design which houses a permanent collection of 2.27 million objects that offers a huge variety of ways to learn about and engage with fashion & design, architecture, material culture and the designed world.

The Opportunity
The V&A is looking for young people aged 18-26 living in London to take part in a free Digital Fashion course in March at the V&A. This pilot programme will teach you 3D design skills for fashion and how to showcase your digital collection on a virtual stage.
Who Is It For?
The course is for emerging or aspiring fashion designers or people interested in a career in digital fashion or wanting to include digital garment design in their creative practice.
The course will include:
- Concept development for digital fashion
- 3D design technical instruction for Fashion
- Getting started with digital pattern design using computer-aided-design software
- Branding/Marketing guidance and portfolio techniques
- Talks from industry experts and mentoring sessions
What Will You Gain From The Programme:

Build content for your digital or physical portfolio
A chance to showcase your digital creations at a V&A event
Timeline
– Apply by 27th February at midnight
– Participant selection will be on 1st March
– Course of 10 sessions from 9th to 30th March
Session Dates:
On-site sessions at the V&A: 11, 18 and 25 March (11:00 to 16:30)
Online evening sessions on MS Teams: 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30 March (18:00 to 20:00)
Elegibility
You must be aged between 18-26 and live in or near London
You must commit to attend all of the sessions
You must have a basic knowledge of patter design
You must have a computer that can run a 3D Design software
You must be available for a 20 minute online interview on either 1st or 2nd March
Selection Process
Applications will be considered by a member of the V&A staff, a fashion industry expert, and a team member of the Fashion Minority Alliance. Success candidates will be invited to an online interview on 1st or 2nd March.
The FMA is committed to managing your data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR. The data you provide will be used by the Learning and Digital Programmes team to help us select participants and securely retained for six months, after which it will be deleted.
