Artisans & Fashion Minority Alliance Sustainable Bronx Workshop

10.10.2024

In an exciting collaboration, we partnered with Artisans to host a workshop at the Bronx House Community Center, in New York. The workshop centered around Artisans D.I.Y kits, which are designed to teach the fundamentals of leather crafting while highlighting the importance of sustainability.

Throughout the day, students were guided by FMA’s passionate and expert instructors, Kim, Jabhari, and Destiny. They demonstrated how to transform leather scraps into beautiful, functional accessories, using Artisans kits and the hands-on approach allowed participants to engage directly with the materials and the process, offering a deep dive into the practical aspects of sustainable fashion.

The Fashion Minority Alliance sustainable initiatives are aimed at not only educating but also to inspire the younger generation in the art of making and sustainable practices. By the end of the workshop, each student had added a new skill to their repertoire leaving with a handmade leather piece and a greater appreciation for sustainable practices. This event highlighted how creative projects can foster both personal development and environmental responsibility.

We are immensely proud to have worked with Artisans, whose kits played a huge role in this transformative experience, which allowed us to offer opportunities to promote craftsmanship in the community.
